दिनयामिन्यौ सायं

Subhashita

दिनयामिन्यौ सायं प्रातः शिशिरवसन्तौ पुनरायातः
कालः क्रीडति गच्छत्यायुः तदपि न मुञ्चत्याशावायुः

दिन और रात, शाम और सुबह, सर्दी और वसंत बार-बार आते-जाते रहते है काल की इस क्रीडा के साथ जीवन नष्ट होता रहता है पर इच्छाओं का अंत कभी नहीं होता है।

IAST transliteration

dina yāminyau sāyaṁ prātaḥ śiśira-vasantau punarāyātaḥ
kālaḥ krīḍati gacchatyāyuḥ tadapi na muñcatyāśā-vāyuḥ

English meaning

Daylight and darkness, dusk and dawn, winter and springtime come and go. Time plays and life ebbs away. But the storm of desire, one never leaves. (Desire never ends, the gates of memory never close. We must throw away the heavy burden of the past and the imagined load of the future).
